Trump has said the United States should be prepared to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities in the event of a war with Tehran.
The United States is the world’s leading supporter of the Middle East peace process, and the prospect of a US-Iran war has been discussed since Trump won the presidency.
The two-day summit is part of Trump’s outreach to the Arab world, which has been shaken by the election of the anti-establishment, anti-globalisation candidate, who vowed to make Israel a “no-go” area for peace negotiations.

Xi has been pushing for a “new Silk Road” through China, a route through Russia, Central Asia and beyond.
Trump and Xi have both criticised China over human rights abuses, and have clashed over trade and investment.

The EU and Turkey have been working to establish an anti-corruption bloc and a permanent permanent security council.
A meeting of the group in Brussels on Friday will focus on the fight against global tax havens and the fight for the fight to end poverty and inequality.

Trump, in his first visit to Israel since becoming president, will meet Netanyahu, who is a staunch opponent of Trump and who has said Trump should be more “flexible” in dealing with Iran.
Trump said he will meet with Netanyahu on his first full day in office.
