Cleveland – This year marks the 50th anniversary of the infamous candy man, who was a notorious gangster who lived to see the birth of the modern-day mobster and the birth-control pill.
The legend is so well known that he is often referred to as “Candy King” or simply “Crazy King” by his victims.
In the mid-1950s, his most famous victim, Sammy Spivey, testified before the United States Senate, claiming that “he had the Candy King’s gang members kill him in the street.”
Spiveys murder was the subject of a popular 1960s TV series and film.
In recent years, he has become a household name in the entertainment industry and even a leading character on the hit TV series “Mad Men.”
“Cotton Candy” was the last known victim of Cotton Candy, a legendary New York street gangster, who went by the alias of Cotton, or Cotton, the Candy Man.
